Uploading Game Results and Hand Records to the Internet

Overview

If two or more games are held simultaneously the results and hand record for the each game must be generated and uploaded to the internet one game at a time. Also, the hand records must not be uploaded to the website before your game to prevent premature access to them.

An overview of the process is:

  • At the end of a game generate the game results for one game using the LRE command.
  • Prepare the hand record file for uploading.
  • Upload them to our website
  • Repeat for any other games played at the same time.

Process per Game

  • If still within ACBLScore: Quit ACBLScore or press the CRTL and ESC keys at the same time to go to the Windows desktop.
  • Open My Documents in the upper left corner of the Windows desktop.
  • My Documents:
    • Move the cursor over your hand record file and hold it there until the name is highlighted. For example, the hand record file for Sherie's Hand record for year 07, month 10, day 25 Afternoon will be named: Sherie H071025A.PDF.
    • Right click the mouse and select Copy.
    • Move the cursor to a blank area on the My Documents window.
    • Right click the mouse and select Paste. This will create a duplicate file named Copy of <your old file name>.
    • Move the cursor over the copy of your file that you just made and hold it there ntil the name is highlighted.
    • Right click the mouse and select Rename.
    • Delete all of the name before the Hxxxxxxx.PDF. E.g., Change Copy of Sherie H071025A.PDF to H071025A.PDF.
    • My Documents:Select the "X" in the upper right corner of the window to close this window.
  • Start Firefox or Internet Explorer. Make sure it connects to the internet.
  • Select the <yourname> Results Post icon on the Windows desktop.
  • Wait until you see the Press any key to continue message and then press Enter.

If there is another game or games, repeat the above for each game.

Uploading Hand Results - temporary method.

Until we figure out a way to include hand records with the game results upload program here is how you need to upload hand records:

  • Put the hand record on the director's computer.  If it's on a USB memory stick connect the memory stick to the director's computer and either move it to the computer or leave it on the memory stick.
  • Edit the hand record file name so that it has the same name as your Game Results file except it starts with an H and ends with .pdf (or .PDF) instead of .TXT.  For example, the hand record for the March 14, 2009, afternoon game should be named H090314A.pdf.
  • Select the Upload All Hand Records icon below the game results upload buttons you are used to using.  This will open a program named Filezilla.
  • At the top of the Filezilla window select Bookmarks and then select the bookmark that corresponds to where you upload your  game results .  E.g., if you normally use the Coleman Game Results button to upload your game results, use the Coleman Game Results bookmark. The lower left side of the window will show you the contents of the ACBLSCORE / GAMEFILE folder.  The lower right side of the window will show you the contents of the selected game results folder on our website.
  • Find your hand record file on the computer.  Then drag it to the lower right side of the FileZilla window (e.g., left click the mouse and don't let go of it until you have moved it over the right pane of the Filezilla window.
  • Quit Filezilla.

DO NOT upload your hand records to our website before the end of your game.  Even though the link to them will not show up until your game results are also uploaded a techie could download them before your game.
