2 over 1

This course covers the 2 Over 1 bidding systems and several other systems. This course is designed for bridge players who have a minimum of one year's experience playing duplicate bridge.

Sessions consist of lectures, comprehensive course notes, exercises and practice hands.

The course lecturers are John Williams and John Schwartz. This course will be different from the version they gave in January 2011, with some topics streamlined and simplified and other topics added.

This course will be located at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center.

Monday Mornings
9:30 AM to 10:30 AM
Dates: January 23, 2012 through April 2, 2012. No game on February 20.

This 10-week course covers:

  • An introduction to the 2/1 bidding system
  • The forcing 1 NoTrump response
  • Opener’s rebids after a 2/1 response and 1NT forcing
  • Responder’s rebids in 2/1 and 1NT forcing auctions
  • The “impossible Spade” bid in a 1NT forcing auction
  • Bergen raises of major suit openings
  • "XYZ"  (an adaptation of 2 way new minor forcing)
  • Cue bidding to slam
